Optimized Fire Combat Training Program

Fire Development and Behaviour in a Structural Fire

Offering you a theoretical and interactive course on fire development , which will elaborate on situations that you can be confronted with during a structural fire. This training is provided directly within you fire service eliminating unnecessary traveling for your personnel. The course covers the different aspects of combustion, smoke, fire development, as well as several extreme fire behaviours («Flashover», «Backdraft», «Smoke-Explosion», and «Flash-Fire»).

This training is delivered by two qualified Instructors.

6h- for groups of 18-25 people

6h- for groups of 18-25 people

Analyzing and Reading Smoke in a Structural Fire

Smoke can transmit a lot of information to firefighters. This course will allow you to better understand the different aspects of smoke such as the neutral plane, velocity, density, colour, volume as well as it’s behaviour during a fire.

Delivered by two qualified instructors, this interactive course includes a theory based presentation, photo and video analysis with exercises designed to interpret the different aspects of smoke.

Nozzles and Extinguishing Techniques in a Structural Fire

The objective of this course is to allow you to understand the characteristics and particularities of fire nozzles, the different techniques of water application as well as  their verification and maintenance. The course will provide you with a better understanding of the extinguishing properties of water and how to utilize different extinguishing methods in relation to the steps of a developing fire.

This interactive 14 hour training is divided in two parts of 7 hours and is delivered by two qualified Instructors.

2 X 7h- for groups of 18-20 people

6h- for groups of 18-25 people

Modern Fire Behaviour in a Structural Fire

“The building is your enemy… know your enemy!”

(Frank Brannigan 1918-2006)

According to Frank Brannigan, every good firefighter must have a base understanding of how structures react during a fire and as such how the fire progresses. In this course we will identify the compartmentation of a building through different structural indicators allowing us to foresee the potential direction of the fire spread. We will also evaluate the impact of our actions on the fire spread and discuss flow path, ventilation control as well as several other principles that might render our choice of tactics more efficient in fire suppression.

Fire Combat Tactics in a Structural Fire

This course is the last course of our Optimized Fire Combat Training Program. This course teaches how to establish a tactical plan when facing a structural fire. In order to put this plan in action, you will use all of the principles that you have seen in the previous courses, such as smoke analysis, identification of potential extreme fire behaviours, water application techniques, transitional attack, flow path evaluation, ventilation control etc…

The objective is to create a secure approach to our work environment during a structure fire and to put in place tactics, which will have a positive impact on the reduction of material loss and prevention of serious firefighter injuries.
